Sony released their new Playstation PSP (Playstation Portable) on Thursday, March 24th. If you haven't bought one yet, you may not find one.

Initial shipments of one million PSP's into the U.S. retail market were expected to sell out quickly. By the end of March, Sony is expected to make 3 million units available in the U.S. and Japan.

So, what is it? Basically, this is a portable, handheld Playstation. The PSP is a new PDA-sized handheld, complete with a 480x277 pixel (landscape) screen and a new, proprietary 1.6 GB mini disk system. Sony announced 24 game titles available for the PSP during the initial PSP launch.

PSP owners will be able to watch videos and listen to MP3 and ATRAC music on their PSP. Sony reports that it will release movies on the new UMD disks and that other studios have committed to do the same.

The initial PSP Value Pack is available for a suggested retail price of $249.99 US/$299.99 CND, and contains the following:
